A Nigerian lady took to social media to praise herself for achieving a First Class in Law. Nigerian Lady Bags A First Class In Law After Dad Died.
Sheila recalled how she persevered to achieve her dreams, despite loosing her father in the process of her study. She said that though it was not easy, she still promised to work hard to make even her late father proud. See what she wrote below;
“At a point in my journey, when I was drowning in book, textbooks,cases, assignments, bills and my dad’s death, I wanted to give up. I literally asked myself” who send you go read law? You no see international relations?”
When I get asked “so what will you do next after the call to the Bar?” I usually just spit out a couple of things just to wow the person asking but the honest truth was that I didn’t know.
Growing up my dream was to be an Ambassador. Nothing else. So I studied history to the chagrin of my mom. My Dad was only interested in me doing what I want and being good at it. Mom tried to bribe me to study medicine but I have always been stubborn. So we compromised. I chose law and wrote Jamb thrice to get it.
First Jamb, I got Mass communication in IMT. Which I studied and finished with Upper credit (National Diploma). Second Jamb got me Sociology, I ignored it.
Third Jamb got me Law. But ESUT was on strike and that worked in my favour because I wrote the last two Jambs while studying Mass communication. So when the strike ended, I was done with my final exam in IMT Enugu.
So in total, I spent 8 years trying to get to this point. 8 years fighting, studying, paying bills, praying, persevering.
Was it worth it? Meehhhhhh
Would I do it again? Mba!
Am I excited? Hell yeah!!
