A newly admitted Nigerian student was shot dead by an angry neighbour. The Nigerian student shot dead by neighbour for loud music was reportedly in an argument with his neighbour before the shooting occurred.
The victim who has been identified as Oluwafemi Oyerinde was a newly admitted year one undergraduate student of Kennesaw State University in Georgia, United States of America. His father who identified himself as Wole, told Channels 2 reporter, Christian Jennings that the shooting happened during an argument because the victim was playing music too loudly.
The man responsible for the shooting crime have been arrested and charged with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
According to AJC, the case worsened after the investigating team conducted a search in the suspect’s apartment, and the team found one hundred and fifty nine grams (159g) of marijuana, and was also charged with having more than one ounce of marijuana in his possession.
The county’s police department, Cobb County Police Department (CCPD), arrested the suspect at the scene of the crime identified as Stadium Village Apartment Complex.
It was also revealed that, during the attack, two other teenagers identified as eighteen year old Khalil Bennett and eighteen year old Jarius Bonner were also shot and injured during the attack by the angry suspect.
According to a statement released and confirmed by the Kennesaw State University’s spokesperson, Tammy Demel; Oluwafeimi Oyerinde was a student of their institution at the time of his death on the Sunday morning of 6th October 2019.
She said; “It is with profound sadness that the university confirms that deceased victim, eighteen year old Oluwafemi Oyerinde, was an enrolled student at the Kennesaw State University”
A candlelight vigil was held on behalf of the late victim, Oluwafemi Oyerinde, by the students of the Kennesaw State University at the school’s Legacy Gazebo.
The suspect named Kashman Rael Thomas, whose age was not revealed, is being charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and the possession of more than one ounce of marijuana.
It was also revealed that before the death of Oluwafemi Oyerinde, on the Sunday morning of 6th October 2019 by 11:30am, Oyerinde was studying in the department of Mechanical Engineering of the Kennesaw State University and had the dreams of joining the military after his undergraduate education at the university.
